"The days were long and the years, short." I can't remember where I read that but I know it was a mother. It describes a busy, day in the life of a mom perfectly. I remember within the first few weeks of Stella's birth, when I was still nursing constantly and getting no sleep, thinking, how am I going to survive? I knew billions of other women had been through the same struggles of being a new mother,
I am a newlywed and, more recently a new mama to a sweet baby girl. I am from Knoxville, Tennessee, but since being married in September of 2012, my husband's oil/gas job has taken us to Pittsburgh PA, Morgantown WV, Wheeling WV, and Evansville IN, where we are currently. This is just a little taste of our journey as we start our family while living on the road.

I took some time off...Here's why
It's been quite some time since I posted last. I know I have a history of being sporadic but this time I actually had a reason. I took some time off blogging on purpose.
I have only in recent years discovered the beauty in participating in the season of Lent. Every year I have participated, I have been beyond blessed to have experienced Christ more deeply. Lent is a time of praying more, fasting and sacrifice, but its always so much more than that. It is a time to think. I mean really sit and reflect on your life. It always sobers me

Half a Year

Today she can eat oatmeal, roll over, basically stay seated by herself, smile, laugh, make all kinds of noises, fall asleep on her own (my personal favorite achievement), put her paci in her mouth by herself and play alone for a short period of time.

I believe in the power of my nothingness united to his omnipotence
No cute pictures of Stella today (although I will be posting some soon), and no baby updates. Today, all I bring are a few of my thoughts and reflections. For Christmas, I was given two books. One was a 365 prayer journal from my dear old mum, and the other, from my sister and brother-in-law, is called a "Christ-centered Resource for Personal Prayer." I'm not going to lie and say I've been reading them everyday. It has been my goal to do so, but I have not attained such a goal.

Christmas on the Road, of Course
Well, we've been home for a couple weeks now but, phew... The holidays for my little family were absolutely crazy!! (Shocker, right?) Danny had two weeks off work, which was nice, so what did we do? We hit the road again. We made plans to visit four different cities and see as many people as possible... sadly, there were still so many we failed to see but there are only so many hours in a day and days in a week. Total drive time was 21 hours.
